Handmade custom mattress for vans. From bed to sofa in seconds.
Handmade in Italy by local artisans. High-density foam 35 kg/m³, 10 cm thick — comfortable enough to sleep on every night, compact enough not to take up space in the van.
One fixed part and one movable part: a backrest during the day, a bed base at night. Removable, water-repellent, and breathable cover — it unzips, washes, and reattaches.

The Nom Folding Van Mattress is handmade in Italy by expert craftspeople. It is not an adapted domestic mattress — it is designed from the start for van life: materials, thickness and cover are chosen to withstand frequent use, humidity, temperature changes and real life on the road.
35 kg/m³ high-density foam, 10 cm thick — thick enough to sleep well, compact enough not to take up space in the van. A fixed section and a movable section that works as a backrest in sofa mode and as a bed platform once opened.
The cover is removable, water-repellent and breathable. Remove it, wash it, put it back on. Available in 4 colours.

The mattress arrives vacuum-packed. After opening, leave it out for 2–4 hours to fully regain its volume.
Cover
- Fully removable — take it off using the Velcro fastenings
- Hand wash or machine wash at low temperatures
- Avoid harsh detergents or bleach
- Air dry — do not tumble dry
- Make sure it is completely dry before putting it back on
Moisture protection
- Avoid prolonged exposure to standing water or condensation

- Rotate the mattress periodically to preserve its shape and comfort

What we are often asked about the Mattress
Is the mattress specifically designed for van life?
Yes.
The Van Nom Outdoor Mattress is designed specifically for van use, it is not an adapted home mattress.
Materials, thickness and coating are chosen to withstand: frequent use, humidity, temperature changes, real life on the go.
Is it suitable for everyday sleep?
Yes.
The high density foam (35 kg/m³) offers a good balance between comfort and support, making it suitable for everyday use, not just occasional use.
How thick is the mattress?
The mattress is 10 cm thick.
A deliberately balanced choice: thick enough to sleep well, compact enough not to take up space in the van.
Is it a firm or soft mattress?
It is a medium mattress, designed to support the body well without being rigid.
It doesn't sink too much, but it's not hard either: a balanced solution for those who travel and sleep in small spaces.
How do you clean it?
The cover is completely removable, easy to remove and clean.
It can be washed by hand or in the washing machine at low temperatures.
We recommend:
- avoid aggressive detergents
- do not use a dryer
- let it air dry
Is this only compatible with the Nom Outdoor Bed?
No.
The Nom Outdoor Mattress is also compatible with other bed systems, as long as the measurements are consistent.
That said, it is designed to work perfectly with the Nom Outdoor Bed, especially in the bed/sofa configuration.
