When we designed the Nom modules, we had one fixed idea: the van must remain a van. No holes, no permanent modifications, everything is assembled and disassembled when needed. For energy, we looked for the same thing, and we found it in a van power station: a single portable battery that replaces a fixed electrical system. The one we use on our trips, and that you see in our videos, is the BLUETTI Elite 100 V2.
Power station or fixed electrical system: what to choose for your van
A traditional electrical system in a van (leisure battery, charger, inverter, and wiring) works well, but for those who want a simple setup, it has three limitations:
- it's permanent: it stays in the vehicle even when the van goes back to being a cargo van;
- it's costly and time-consuming: you need a professional to install it;
- it doesn't move: the power stays inside the van.
A portable power station does the same job in a single object: you charge it at home, on the road, or with the sun, take it where you need it, and remove it when you don't. It's the same logic as our modules: removable energy.

How we use the power station in the van
In our setups, the Elite 100 V2 finds its place in the under-bed compartment of the Pull-out Van Bed or next to the kitchen, always accessible. Here is what we power during a weekend:
- the compressor fridge, which slides out with the Sliding Fridge without moving anything;
- lights, phones, camera, and computer;
- the fan on summer nights.
How long does a 1,000 Wh power station last in a van?
It depends on what you plug in and for how long. To do the math, simply multiply the power of each appliance by the hours of use and sum them up: if the daily total stays under the 1,024 Wh of the Elite 100 V2, you are covered. With a compressor fridge, lights, and device charging, a long weekend is managed without worries; with a solar panel, the trip can last as long as you want.
Why it works with Nom modules
- No modifications to the van: just like the bed, furniture, and kitchen, the power station can be removed in an instant.
- Order: it has its own precise place in the setup, with no loose cables.
- Freedom: you can take it outside to cook in the open with the Pull-out Kitchen, or indoors when the van returns to the garage.

Frequently asked questions
Does a power station replace the van's electrical system?
For trips lasting a few days, yes: it powers the fridge, lights, and devices without installing leisure batteries or wiring. And it recharges conveniently during the trip via an inverter or cigarette lighter socket. For those who live in a van year-round, a more structured system might be needed.
Can it be charged while driving?
Yes: the Elite 100 V2 recharges from the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket (full charge in about 1.8 hours), with solar panels up to 1,000 W, or from a standard wall outlet.
Where is the power station positioned in a Nom setup?
Being compact, it fits in any module: it stays stable, accessible, and can be removed when needed. Our advice is to choose a location that is convenient for charging all your devices.
